How We Measure Website Use

We want to know which pages and services are genuinely useful, without building a profile of the people who read them.

This website is measured with Umami, a privacy-focused analytics platform that we host ourselves at analytics.webshifu.site, on a dedicated server in Germany. We do not use Google Analytics, or any other advertising-funded analytics service. What that means in practice:

  • No cookies. The tracker stores nothing on your device — no cookie, no local storage entry, no identifier that outlives your visit. This is why it appears nowhere in the consent categories above.
  • No cross-site tracking. Measurement stops at this website.
  • No personal identifiers. Your name, email address and phone number stay out of our statistics entirely, and no visitor-identification feature is enabled.
  • Your IP address is not stored. It is used only momentarily, in memory, to derive an approximate country and a one-way daily visit identifier, and is never written to the analytics database.
  • No session recording. No session replay, heatmap, screen recording or keystroke capture.
  • Aggregated reporting. We read counts and trends — page views, referring sites, browser, device type and country — not records about individuals.
  • Do Not Track is honoured. If your browser sends that signal, your visit is not recorded at all.

Because the tracker sets no cookie, it does not rely on the prior consent that cookie-based tracking requires. To the extent this involves personal information at all, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the website under section 11(1)(f) of POPIA. The server is in Germany, which is subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation — a law upholding principles substantially similar to POPIA’s conditions, as section 72(1)(a) requires.
